Updates on The Family Alchemists

Hi Friends, When I created The Family Alchemists in 2018, I had a really big vision and mission of connecting people to the resources they need to grow. I have so many amazing professionals in the Conscious Parenting space as friends and was determined to help them...

How Recovery Principles Pave the Way to Conscious Parenting

Applying the 12 steps to my parenting helped me practice boundaries, communicate with integrity and ultimately BE loving and tolerant.

Conscious Communication Skills

In times of great social change, we look for the things we can control. We may not be able to predict the future for ourselves or our teens, but we can control how we communicate. The way we communicate reveals what we value and how we value it. I longed to connect...

How to Save a Marriage

So, you’re an empath married to a guy that treats you like a queen – most of the time. But those times he’s angry? You question if you’re more like your mother than you thought. You worry that his behavior is going to hurt your kids and that you’re being irresponsible...

WHAT DOES SPIRITUALITY MEAN TO YOU?

When I have a chance to actually discuss the topic with clients, it is very simple to explain my view of spirituality, understand my clients’ perspective, and come to a common ground semantically (and often philosophically). I notice I regularly attract people who...

Helping Your Kids During Coronavirus Social Distancing

Dear Brave Ones: Of course, we’re scared. That means it’s the time to be gentle and compassionate with ourselves and others. Can you imagine how scared our kids are? Their routines have been disrupted and they miss their teachers and friends. They have less control...

Out of the race

From the moment we are born, we are part of a race we never wanted to be in, we are measured by milestones and compared endlessly with any peers we share our life with. We are numbers in charts and checkmarks in lists of accomplishments, in other words, we are what we...

Mindful Parenting Through the Everyday Stresses

In the fast paced world of parenting where decisions are made in between spilled cereal, constant questioning and smartphone apps, it is no wonder the word mindfulness is becoming as necessary in a parent’s vocabulary as the word nap-time. And yet, for many,...

What our children ask of us

Our children ask so little really. Listen to my discoveries and ideas. Look through my eyes to understand my world. Feel my love, joy, frustration, pain. Hold my hand, my heart and me close. Be careful with me and understand me. I may feel off sometimes, when the...

Elf on the shelf, Magic of well-behaved kids?

I was already familiar with conscious parenting when the Elf on the Shelf became popular a few years ago, I found out about it when my kids were toddlers and I heard stories about him moving every night and being a fun addition during Christmas time. I was excited to...

Parent Coaching: Raising Children Consciously

What is a Parent Coach and How Can They Help?

Thinking about hiring a parent coach? You’re not alone. In our information age, parents across the globe are seeking out parenting coaches who can help them apply the information they’ve learned from books, classes, blogs, and videos to their own lives, within their own unique situations.

Improving behavior is no longer about using fear and punishment to gain compliance. Parents today are determined more than ever to peacefully parent through respectful relationships that mutually honor everyone involved, leaning on clear boundaries & natural consequences instead of punishment.

A 2007 case study of three parent coaching projects developed by the Parent Coaching Institute found that participants at each site reported significantly improved parenting skills as a result of the professional mentoring.

Similarly, in a 2001 analysis of the impact of coaching on four parents with “non-compliant children,” early childhood education researchers found progress among the entire group.

At The Family Alchemists, we’re parent coaches who focus on helping others achieve the same transformation we’ve achieved in our families.

Let us work our alchemy on your household relationships.

Kids learn through what we do, not what we say.

Parenting Help - Finding Personalized Parenting Help with a Family Alchemist is Easier Than You Think

I think every parent wonders if they’re getting it right.  At some point, whether it’s in the middle of a very loud tantrum, or during the 3 AM wake-up, they search for parenting help.

Parenting books, parenting blogs, and even parenting classes can’t look at a parent’s family dynamic and help them to find the missing pieces. That’s where a parenting coach or mentor comes in.

A parenting coach is a professional who is trained in child development, interpersonal skills, psychology, self-care, and more.  Their focus isn’t on discovering something wrong with the child, rather it’s on supporting the parent to be able to identify what the child needs from them.

Since child behavior is always a child’s best attempt at getting their needs met, the most important parenting skill is learning to be so attuned to their child that they can decipher what they need at any given moment.

It could be a clear limit, a gentle hug, emotion coaching, a snack, sleep, pain relief, and more.

Rather than move into reaction, the parent is tasked with staying present and connected to their child so they can support them while they face the many challenges of growing up.

Conscious parenting coaches & mentors such as The Family Alchemists are gentle, loving, and non-judgmental professionals that work one-on-one with parents to help them clear any emotional blocks that are preventing them from staying fully present, such as being triggered by crying and reliving trauma from their own childhoods.

Once any generational patterns are identified, the parent can understand their own feelings and needs and how to meet them, so they have the energy to care for, and meet the demands of raising, their family.

Their mentor will then help them understand their children’s stages of development, what to expect, and how to foster better communication and connection, depending on their age.

Our parenting coaches work with parents remotely via phone or video conferencing, which allows you to fit coaching into your busy schedule and make it more convenient than visiting an office or weekly class.

Imagine, individualized parenting support just for you and your family, available day or night from the comfort of your home: that’s parent coaching.

The Conscious Parent

The Awakened Family

Out of Control

Dr. Shefali on Teachable

“A Conscious Parenting Coach is someone that has been extensively trained in child development, psychology, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence. As a Conscious Parenting Coach, my focus is the relationship, either between the parent and the child or between both parents. Because our children’s behavior is their best attempt at getting a need met, undesired behavior from the child most often points to a parent who, for some reason, isn’t able to tune in to the child’s needs.

My job as a Conscious Parenting Coach is to identify what is blocking the parent from tuning in, and guide them to resolve it so they can fully connect with their child. The theory behind Conscious Parenting is that we all have at least one child that will “trigger” us, meaning they awaken some unresolved emotional pain from our own childhoods and that, by healing those pieces of us as they arise, we can actually use the relationship with our child for personal growth.”

What You Get:

  • Parent Coaches will listen as you share, ask you questions, and empathize deeply with what you’re experiencing.

  • Coaches primarily help you uncover your own answers and feeling of relief.  Coaching is very experiential. You may do work on the level of emotions, which releases energy from your nervous system. You also may be led through meditations or other mindfulness exercises.

  • Parenting Mentors are more like a parenting partner. They’re an expert in their specialties and will give you tactical guidance to resolve problems.

Both Parenting Coaches and Mentors from The Family Alchemists use their own transformation as their framework. They’ll give you the right guidance at the right time.
